Coursework, or as it's also called Course Paper or Report paper, is the common term for the obligatory participation of a student during a high school years, college classes or in University. It may consist different written papers, laboratory projects, investigations, practical experiments, speeches, practical demonstrations of the class material, (for example: power point presentations) or a combination of all above mentioned. The coursework may be obligatory, in other words Direct Coursework, to demonstrate the skills and knowledge students have gained throughout a course or it may be of an elective option, Elective Coursework, providing enrichment for the general diploma or degree program. In combination with exams, coursework is the crucial part by which a student is evaluated. Coursework is done at home or in class, all depends on instructor and course.
Preparing an assignment for the instructor, students are encouraged to use different research sources such as textbooks, encyclopedias, journals, Television programs, radio and the internet sites. However all sources must be reliable. Very often the most reliable source of the information on your topic is your professor, do not forget about this fact.
It does not matter, is it Direct Coursework or Elective Coursework, it must be a student's own, 100% original work, with proper citations, quotations and works cited page (if needed).
Someone may observe that CourseWork and Essay are almost the same, but several differences still exist:
* Coursework is longer
* Coursework involves more detailed information
* Provides more evidences on the work subject
* Coursework bases on practice and analytical information, data
analysis than on theory.
* Coursework usually involves different visual supporting materials,
such as slides, photos, charts, diagrams etc.
You can find coursework assignments almost in every high school, college, university, your major and academic level does not matter. However, its difficulty depends on academic level and discipline. Students usually write courseworks studying: literature, history, business, biology, psychology, philosophy, art appreciation, music appreciation, Bible studying, engineering, mathematics, statistics etc.
