From the very beginning it would be essential to note that human resources are in the center of the investigation of BBBS public agency. It is essential to note that Big Brothers and Big Sisters is non-profit organization that is why it has a string deal with the volunteering and realizations of the programs it provides got to correspond to contemporary U.S legislation. It is a well known fact that the company plays in the service oriented industry and the corporate values of the non-profit organization play quite a significant role in corresponding to the Equal Employment Opportunity policies provided within the Civil Rights Act in 1964 dealing with the protectionism the Equal Employment Opportunity: “prohibit the discriminatory practices in hiring, discharging, promotion, layoff, and pay of workers…these policies extend to the training, selection, or recruitment of workers” (United States Commission on Human Rights, 1969). It will not be surprising that the company, operating on the high quality level and playing a noticeable role in public service and working with children, keeps to the equality policy in all the beginnings dealing with human resource management and hiring, especially the aspect of equal payment. As every successful public agency that wishes to correspond to the contemporary development of HR policies and provide successful programs Big Brothers and Big Sisters public agency supports medical insurance and benefits system for its workers, industry compensation and profit sharing benefits for those most overlooked group in the industry – the customer service and ramp workers. Another significant law that regulates retirement programs and protects the employees is Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). It should be noted that the company does not spread any information about the retirement programs. It happens because BBBS employs mainly young people, which would be easier to get along with the children, the core target group of this public agency. The following will illustrate what is called volunteering for BBBS: “You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it is actually a lot of fun. You and your little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do. Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little — and you’ll be making a life-changing impact” (BBBS, 2010).
It will not be a secret that using volunteer’s help could be related for the regular employees have as so called probationary period in order to understand what is the core aim of their work and does it suit for those who want to keep on working in the industry of public service and social working . Big Brother and Big Sisters is considered to be a public agency that employs a lot of people and it would be obvious to note that such service oriented company should correlate it recruitment policies with the Equal Pay Act, which provided a significant influence on the company’s HR and “protects men and women who perform substantially equal work in the same establishment from sex-based wage discrimination” (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2009).
Big Brothers and Big Sisters public agency seeks for the energetic people who eager to work in social sphere and understanding the difficulties connected with social working, especially with such a problematic question as growing up healthy new generations. The company provides a number of benefits for the workers and their families, attracting people who are intended to realize themselves within the corporation. According to the independent investigations BBBS Public Agency is a fair public agency, which HR structure and hiring does not actually correspond to the contemporary American norms and legislation. Hence the information dealing with the benefits and compensation could hardly be observed within the organization.
It should be noted that the company employs a number of people legally and among the benefits it provides, despite medical insurance is constant education and sharing experience between the different departments located all over the country. It should be noted that BBBS is a huge agency and so poorly developed system of benefits and compensation could hardly add to its popularity as a public agency. Taking care about the new generations and the future of the country is really worth of praising. But such an old social institution should be more careful and attentive to their work needs and demands for the constant growth
It would be essential to note that developing good benefits and compensation system for the employers and building HR policies on the reward and benefit system the company would make the BBBS Public Agency attractive for highly qualified and perspective workers and specialists, who are eager to receive competitive wages and additional number of bonuses for them and their families. It goes without saying that such a system needs significant improvement
