Custom essays on Research Essay – Toys

The phenomenon of the rapid growing of children, known in industry of toys as KGOY (Kids Growing Older Younger), compels producers to create more difficult technological goods. The new generation of “digital children” (“Digi-Kids”) grows and develops in the world of electronics, mass media, videogames and computers with access to the Internet practically from their birth, what was never before. From data of The NPD Group, the American children in age from 4 to 14 years begin to use different electronic devices on six months earlier, than it was in previous year. ( www.npd.com) From 11 devices considered in research children in this age use already 9 of them, what earlier also was not observed.
Participants of industry that gathered at the beginning of 2006 on the Hong Kong fair of toys confirmed a prognosis and estimation of these tendencies. The representatives of companies-producers and retail expect that sector of “computer toys and games”, and also “toys, working on batteries” will grow considerably quicker than other. According to Boulard on the second place on the growth of sales will be “developing toys and games” and “toys for babies”. (Boulard, 2008) Research which was conducted on a fair by Hong Kong Council of development of trade show that the participants of industry estimated the growth of hi-tech segment (computer games and electronic toys) on the average in 18% in a year. Moreover, 20% of polled forecast that a growth will make from 16 to 30%.
By the main assembly-shop of child’s toy, undoubtedly, is China where 70% of world production is produced. Cheapness of process of toy’s making in combination with acceptable quality make Chinese products extraordinarily competitive in the world market. The production of toys in China is clearly located. 78,6% of all products of toys industry created in China “receive” birth in a certain Chinese province. China engages in not only the production of toys on the western templates but also forming of the line of products. If earlier all ideas for new toys were created in the west, then now toy makers in China offer own developments. However, yet coming the Chinese producers in earnest to do some work above creation of powerful national trade marks (brands). Cross & Smits said that now a production in China works foremost on an export. (Cross & Smit, 2005) However, in spite of all these achievements, reputation of toys “made in China” is low due to their bad quality. It is not surprising, taking into account that 85% potentially dangerous toys, educed in America and Europe, were created in China. The result of negotiations on this issue became an agreement about toughening of requirements to safety of the Chinese products, which was used from June, 1, 2007. Probably, that in the nearest future the USA and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will also demand from the Chinese industrialists to improve quality of import. In opinion of analysts this agreement will accelerate the process of consolidation of assets in China and will force out the most unreliable companies from toys market.
The USA is simultaneously the motherland of the largest companies in toys industry and greatest market in the world. From data of the NPD Group, in 2005 the market of traditional toys of the United States grew short on 3,7% and was 21,3 milliard of dollars. Sales of videogames, opposite, grew on 5,8% and were 10,5 milliard of dollars. Some time ago New York was the “toy” capital of the USA. Now about the half of products, done in the States, is produced in the next ten American states: California, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri and Maryland. Most toys, intended for the American market, still developed in the USA, but a self production already is in other countries, and foremost – in China. On this basis, obviously, that statistics of the international trading in the USA does not reflect the real power of the American companies, as majority from them is placed by a production outside the country.
Thus, basing on all above presented information it is necessary to come to the conclusion that toys quality is still open question for all families. Producers want to sell their products, but people want to buy the toy of the best quality for their lovely children. We see that toys “made in China” are in group of risk and in spite of the fact that certain toys are very popular and it is hard to find them it is necessary to be attentive, because they could have bad quality due to their high popularity and great wish of buyers to present such toy for their children.
