Buy essay on Impacts of a Borderless Society

It is true that nowadays almost everything is possible. This statement concerns food as well. We have a great number of foods and ways to cook them to choose, moreover we are free to decide where we want to have our meals: at home, café or fast food restaurant. On the one hand such freedom of choice is preferable: it is really amazing to be able to have a meal consisting of foods originated from the different parts of the world with their special unique histories and traditional tastes; on the other hand there are certain negative aspects of it. In his essay we aim to trace the origins of the foods we frequently have and to analyze both strong and week points of the unlimited freedom of choice.
I decided to choose breakfast and dinner for this assignment. My breakfast consists of two slices of bread with cheese and a cup of black tea. Usually I have my breakfast at home, so I may tell for sure that all the food came to my table from the usual supermarket. For my dinner I have a salad of cabbage and olive oil and Italian spaghetti. Also for my dinner I usually have a cup of tea. It happens so that I have my dinner in a café, but this time I bought vegetables at the market and pasta at the expensive supermarket and cooked my meal by myself.
Breakfast
Cheese
I prefer Edam cheese for breakfast. This kind of cheese is called semi firm since its texture is firm, but smooth and it allows cheese to be sliced . This cheese was cooked and pressed to eliminate excess moisture that’s why it has firm shape. This cheese came from France. It has not very long storage duration, but I see that the package is hermetic and the cheese looks very appetizing, so I think that all the storage conditions were proper.
Bread
I prefer white bread. I buy it every day at the bakery situated near my house. They purchase wheat flour, bake bread and then sell it. The bread I buy is always very tasty and smelling perfectly.
Black Tea
My favorite black tea came from Sri Lanka. There are several steps which tea leaves undergone before being packed and sent to the supermarket near my house. At first they are gathered, then dropped into rolling machines and left to ferment before passing through a hot air chamber. After that tea is sorted for tea bags, packed into boxes and sent to different directions by ship. For tea storage low heredity and room temperature are preferable.

Dinner
Cabbage
The cabbage for my salad has definitely come from the farm. It looks large and seems very fresh and appetizing. I suppose that the farm the cabbage was grown at is situated several miles from the city, that’s why I have grounds to think that it may be contaminated with pesticides. Also I am in the know that in order to deter cabbage worms farmers use row covers in the earlier part of the growing season, but if a farmer uses these later chemical elements may be still present on cabbage when you buy it. Cabbage is a season vegetable, so I believe it hasn’t been stored yet. It was simply grown and then sent directly to the market.
Olive oil
The olive oil I used for my salad originated from Greece. There olives are harvested from November till March. I prefer extra virgin olive oil – for such kind of oil the olives need to be pressed quickly after their picking (not later than the same day) because they begin to oxidize from the very moment they are removed from the tree . After harvesting there comes a step of crushing – the olives are pressed in the mill. After that filtration comes – to remove sediment and water. The next step is selecting during which only the best olives should be selected. The last steps are refining and blending, after which the oil is bottled. I bought a small glass bottle of oil as it is not good for its taste to be stored for a long period of time. There is actually a list of demands as for proper storage of olive oil: it is constantly oxidizing as a result of heat, age, air and light exposure – that is to my mind the key moment in choosing the olive oil which came from far away – you never know what were the conditions of exportation of the bottles, so you never may be sure in the quality of purchased bottle.
Spaghetti
Actually there are various thoughts what the origins of pasta are. Mostly people believe that “spaghetti” was invented in the 19th century in Naples although there is certain information that pasta had been known much earlier in Arabic world . Nowadays “spaghetti” is supposed to be a kind of really traditional Italian meal which is extremely popular in USA. Although there are a lot of pasta manufacturers in the country, real Italian “spaghetti” is still appreciated greatly, so it is still possible to meet Italian spaghetti on the shelves of the supermarket. I suppose that my spaghetti from the supermarket were made of flour, water and eggs in some distant corner of France, dried, packed and then exported to my country. I know that conditions for storing pasta are not so hard to be preserved; nevertheless the increased level of humidity and temperature may make them sticky in the process of cooking.
Negative points of global market
First of all I would like to point out the importance of proper storage conditions. In reality different kinds of foods are exported under the same conditions while they need special ones. Taking bottles and packs originated from far away from the supermarket shelves you will never know for sure that the expensive product you get is really so good it might in fact be.
Also it is necessary to mention that imported goods mostly have a long storage duration which means that they definitely contain preservatives and may be other dangerous for health compounds. So, global market tends to contribute to promotion of unhealthy diet.
