Buy essay on Professional values for bsn

Altruism is the moral principle that presupposes disinterested actions, directed for other person’s good and satisfaction of interests. Nurses should demonstrate the ability to sacrifice their benefit for the sake of general welfare, for the sake of a patient – a person who needs them thoroughly.
Autonomy is the right and debt of any medical worker. Autonomy means to preserve the professional independence. A nurse is obliged to reject any attempts of pressure from outside administration, patients or other persons, because she takes up all completeness of responsibility for a professional solution.
Human dignity is a very important aspect of life of every person. A nurse should respect the dignity of her patient. Rough and inhumane attitude to a patient, humiliation of his dignity and human rights or any other superiority toward a patient is inadmissible for a nurse.
Integrity is probably the most difficult obligation from the moral point of view. Integrity is the duty to answer directly the patient’s questions concerning his or her health. Sometimes a nurse should be really brave to confess the patient that the diagnosis is not positive at all.
Social justice is one of the most important values in human relations. It means that everyone should be treated equally; rights and duties of every person should be performed and respected.
I have been working as a nurse for more than twenty years. All these qualities mean a lot for me, because these are not mere words. After every aspect there is a human’s story and life. Thus, altruism is not a necessity imposed by society for me. I am really ready to assist those who require my help, to lift the book which was dropped by a person on crutches. I do not expect any gratitude and appraisal for my actions. My moral duty and desire is to help those who sometimes really need me. I understand autonomy of a nurse in the aspect that she should always be ready to take all the responsibility for her actions. It is especially important in such tense situations as at war, for example. I reckon that during war and peace my duty is to render medical aid to newborns and to old men, military men and civilians, heads of the higher rank and persons held in custody. Sometimes their lives depend on how quick I can render them medical aid. Human dignity is also a very important factor in our job. A nurse must respect her patient as it is she who is responsible for him in the medical establishment. But human dignity is a double-sided factor. I am strongly convinced that patients should also respect a nurse who helps them in their hardships. Integrity is something really necessary for a nurse because my personal opinion is that concealing a true diagnosis even if it is not consoling is unfair against the patient’s right to know the truth. It is not my right to conceal the other person’s diagnosis even if it is not sometimes easy to tell it. But it is my responsibility. Having worked as a nurse for a rather long period of time I observed that it is very important for everyone to be praised and punished according to their actions. Social justice is very important in our difficult profession. Social justice also deals with work and compensation, conformity of a role of nurses and patients and their social status.
