It is necessary to discuss main functions of management in the frames of this paper. I will define four functions of management and it will be planning, organizing, leading and controlling. I think that for the better understanding of the above numbered functions it is also necessary to include an explanation of how each functions relates to my own organization.
The basic functions of management are characterized by plenitude of maintenance, stability of structure, system and universality of the use in the different spheres of activity. Their main feature is in that every basic function of management is a separate process of management on making of activation methods and affecting facilities personnel and its activity for achievement of general results of the socio-economic system. Functions are interesting in fact that in the systematized kind they can give the complete picture of motivation processes, influence and co-operation from the origin of ideas to their realization, estimation of result and appearance of consequences. Basic functions characterize influence, stipulating its determining facilities, realization of which can provide the required result.
Planning as a basic function of management is type of activity on forming of influence facilities, providing the single sending of efforts of all members of firm to achievement of general aims. Planning as a management process includes development and realization of influence facilities: conception, prognosis, program, and plan. Each of facilities of influence has own specific and terms of the use. In accordance to my organization I want to say that a planning function supposes a decision about what aims of organization must be and that members must do, to attain these aims. In my organization the strategic planning is a set of actions and decisions, undertaken guidance, which conduce to development of specific strategies, intended in an order to help organization to attain the aims. A process of the strategic planning is an instrument, helping in acceptance of administrative decisions. Its task is to provide innovations and changes in organization in a sufficient degree. More precisely speaking, a process of the strategic planning is that device which all administrative functions take shelter under.
The second function is organizing. Organizing as a basic function of management is a type of human activity for achievement of aims. During realization of this function it operates with next categories: process, system, communications, organizationally-stabilizing methods and organizationally-active facilities. Organizing as a management function forms an object, perfects it, develops the modes of functioning, and creates the mechanisms of adaptation in the changes of external and internal connections in control system. Therefore, organization of management is forming of stability terms and flexibility of the socio-economic system on the basis of complex approach taking into account system and situational factors. Organization as a basic function of management orients at the industrial and economic system in time and space. In my organization its setting is raising, determination and formulation of management aims in accordance with the requirement of society in by the producible firm of products (services), in the ground of resource provision aims and realized in accordance with present potential.
The third function is leading and motivation. According to Bateman & Snell (2004) “working under this function helps the management to control and supervise the actions of the staff.

This helps them to assist the staff in achieving the company’s goals and also accomplishing their personal or career goals which can be powered by motivation, communication, department dynamics, and department leadership.” Saying about motivation function implementation in my organization it is possible to mention that motivation as a basic function of management is related to the process of motive itself and other people to activity through forming of behavioral reasons for achievement of the personal aims and aims of organization. In the process of motivation the use of certain sequence of interdependent categories is assumed: necessities of people are interests of people – reasons of activity are actions of people.
The fourth function for our describing is controlling. Controlling as a next basic function of management unites the types of administrative activity, related to forming of state information and functioning of management (account) object, by the study of information about processes and results of activity (analysis), by work on diagnostics and estimation of development processes and achievement of aims, efficiency of strategies, successes and miscalculations in the use of facilities and management methods. Gemmy Allen (1998) stated that “Controlling is the final link in the functional chain of management activities and brings the functions of management cycle full circle. This allows for the performance standard within the group to be set and communicated. Control allows for ease of delegating tasks to team members and as managers may be held accountable for the performance of subordinates, they may be wise to extend timely feedback of employee accomplishments.”
Summarizing all above defined functions of management we can say that the entire are necessary for the effective work of all companies and organizations. In the cabinets of many managers placards hang with the words “To manage – means to forecast and plan, organize, manage a command, to co-ordinate and control”. The basic functions of management which was devoted this paper are formulated in these words of one of founders of scientific management.
