College Application Essay

Today, education plays an extremely important role in the life of people because it opens larger job opportunities and contributes not only to professional but also personal development of an individual. This is why I am eager to continue my education in Babson College. At the same time, I believe that Babson College will help me to realize my potential and my passion to sports. As the matter of fact I believe that my personal development should be balanced and my intellectual progress should be backed up by my physical development. This is exactly what I expect to achieve in Babson College.
In fact, I always adored sports, especially soccer and basketball, which were and still are my favorite sports. Soccer and basketball were not just a passion of mine, they were a part of my life which contributed to my personal development. For instance, soccer helped me consistently in my personal development because I was a captain of our soccer team in high school. This was a very important experience for me because I had learned how to be a leader of a team. Moreover, it was not just a leadership but also a high responsibility for all team members and results of our team that I had learned while being a captain of our soccer team.
Probably, my experience as a captain of our soccer team helped me to develop closer social relations with my peers and other people in my high school and my community. I was a president of school student council in my high school. I think that I had managed to succeed in this position due to my experience of a captain of our soccer team because I was an experienced leader and students were accustomed that I was a leader. They were confident in me and they trusted and followed my lead. In addition, I participated in a variety of community activities. For instance, I helped handicapped and I was involved in several environmental projects. I was conscious of the importance of this social activities and my participation in these projects was grounded on my conscious choice and desire to be helpful to the community.
At the same time, my participation in community activities was not difficult for me because I was accustomed to work with different people in different circumstances, whereas my peers often faced substantial problems when they attempted to help handicapped, for instance, because it was difficult for them to build up social relations with people. In addition, due to my passion to sport, I have learned to be bold and take decisions fast without any hesitations because if you start wasting your time on taking decision you can lose the game. The faster you take the right decision the better it is for your team. This is the rule I have learned while playing soccer and basketball.
In such a way, I extrapolated my passion to sports and experienced acquired while playing soccer and basketball on my regular life and on my relationships with people. This experience has proved to be very helpful and, as the matter of fact, sports have made me a leader. As a result, today, I am self-confident and I am certain in my abilities to achieve success in my education, professional and personal life.
