Whatever strange it may seem but modern society has not still realized up to the end that the drug addiction is not the personal problem of a drug addict but also the problem of his family, of all the world population. That is why the fight with the distribution of drugs must be started with the understanding by every person that this problem concerns personally him even if nobody of his relatives is addicted to drugs. We can see that nowadays about 300 million men in the world suffer from drug addiction, and the annual profit of the world drug dealing exceeds 400 billion dollars. But the most anxious is that drugs are used mainly by young people and teenagers – the future of our society.
The effect of drugs depends on the accepted amount. Drugs in a trace render some “stimulant influence”(increase of activity). Drugs in a greater amount operate as an antianxiety mean (suppression of activity). Drugs in a yet greater amount operate as poison and can result in a fatal result. Drugs affect directly the mind.
Having analyzed the information above it is obvious that drug addiction is the problem of safety of all of us. A person intoxicated with drugs threatens not only a baby walking on the street but also a pensioner coming back home after getting pension and all the other citizens.
Always, when drastic matters are used for pleasure and entertainment, problems begin with them. Doing drug is quickly included in habit and results in an inadequate conduct. Sometimes it is expressed in aggression, but more frequently a person simply “falls” out of life under the influence of drugs – stops needing society and taking interest in it. When this phenomenon becomes widespread enough, the state declares the corresponding matter as a dangerous drug.
From year to year the problem is more aggravated, acquires a greater actuality. Drug lords don’t stop before anything, demanding from the “scientists”, if it is possible to say like this, developments of more effective and killing drugs. Today synthetic drugs are able to form physical dependence for 3-4 receptions of a drug and after 10-15 receptions they form the psychical one. And the day is not distant, when one or two receptions of a drug, even taken by chance will be enough for a man to doom himself to the incredible torments for deliverance from narcotic dependence, if this person has enough strength of will, desire, money.
All that society can oppose to drug addiction is to prohibit taking drugs and to punish for their trade. In due time it was done in most of the countries. And in 1961 the UNO accepted the Convention about drugs, regulating their production, sale and use. Because of these measures, the market value of drugs grew in oftentimes and drug trade became a super profit business that hampered greatly the fight against it.
