It tells the story about Vietnam veteran John Rambo retired and lives in solitude in Bangkok, who lives thank to sorting out the old boats and tanks for scrap metal. His even and hopeless life routine was disturbed by a group of missionaries asked him to be their guide. For over fifty years it had been war in Burma, and local citizens exhausted by war desperately needed help. John Rambo helped missionaries in getting to Burma, shortly after they were captured by Burmese soldiers. Traditionally, rescue mission was entrusted to invincible Rambo. He should release them with the help of five well-trained mercenaries. Unsurprisingly, during the movie our courage hero manages his mission, overcoming all the obstacles.

An overall impression

Was the film breathtaking or thrilling for me? Well, to be honest, it was when battles and fights or flame sparkling took place. Was it involving, entertaining, or fascinating? Definitely, it was not. The plot was predictable and weak and dull in some actions, the actors’ play was not overwhelming and persuasive as I expected them to be. The film is full of cruel fights and severe battles, but has no emotions and feelings, even drama, especially the first part of it. Dialogue with the girl, after which Rambo decided to carry the missionaries by the river, takes 2-3 minutes and is replete with illogical conclusions and empty, but loud phrases. It is a fail I am sure.

I am not stating that the film is bad in all its actions. I was certainly pleased when watching jungle chase, which is beautiful and dynamic. Unfortunately, an aviation bombs explosion spoiled the impression in general. The final action in the every film is expected to be the best of all in the whole movie. In contrast, the final battle of “Rambo IV” was a dream of an Al-Marri modern game – a man with a large gun was shooting everybody around. Undeniably, Rambo shoots effectively – with tearing in half, tearing off limbs, beautiful falls and bloody scraps.

Conclusion

The movie is beautiful, but completely mindless. Comparing to the first Rambo, with its drama, action, plot and idea the fourth one loses on all fronts. I expected to see much more: a beautiful and exquisite Rambo fighting with a vicious enemy, interesting plot and more brilliant play. Is this film good or bad? The film seemed to me a bit weak, but worthy. Whether this is good or bad is up for opinion.
