B. Describe 2-3 strengths and 2-3 weaknesses apply to you most. Explain why the strengths and weaknesses apply to you, give and at least one example of a strength and one example of a weakness from your life that illustrates how they apply to you.

The following strengths could be applied to me:

• Competitive strength
• Domineering strength
• Influential strength

Competitive strength means that I have an active position, can demonstrate my advantages over other people. Influential strength makes it possible to influence other people’s opinions and decisions. High dominance strength emphasizes powerful personality, and his/her way of expression.

As an example of my competitive strength, I would like to mention that I often participate in discussions, meetings, competitions and always do my best to express my opinion, demonstrate my strong sides and abilities.

Among the weaknesses I would be able to name a few as well. These are:
• Hesitant weakness
• Disciplined weakness
• Guarded weakness

Hesitant weakness means that sometimes I can’t make a decision at once, that my decisions and actions may look uncertain or slow.

Disciplined weakness could appear in a very demanding attitude towards other people and me.

I possess a guarded weakness as well as other two that were mentioned above. Sometimes I may become too quite if I’m experiencing some difficulties at work or some problems in personal life.

It may be difficult for me to operate with other people during that period of time, to share my troubles with them.

C. Wright a summary describing what you’ve learned from this assignment about the benefits you can derive from understanding communication styles. How can this understanding help enhance diversity in the workplace?

I need to make a conclusion that communication is one of the most important human skills. Communication process is an art, and it needs to be effective; information should be appropriately shared; and we should listen to others carefully.

Every manager should learn how to take advantages of communication tools. First of all manager should be able to define communication style that may be noticed trough person’s behavior. He or she also should know that there is a limited number of communication styles: Emotive, Director, Reflective, and Supportive.

These communication styles are determined by the levels of dominance and sociability of each personality.

In my opinion, information about communication styles could be effectively used at the workplace in order to enhance diversity, to improve the relationships between colleagues and management.

The knowledge of communication styles may become a reason for success in organization, it may lead to promotion. “Communication skills can be a good tool to define what type of personality your boss or co-workers have”. (Sabol, 2011)

An employee that effectively uses communication skills will be perceived as efficient in organizational communications. This person will be able to find an approach to the various personalities and to communicate with them appropriately.
