Arthur Miller was known for being a talented playwright and essayist in the United States of America, who was born in Harlem, New York City on 17 October 1915 in the family of a completely illiterate Jewish immigrant from Poland and American woman, whose father, was from Poland too. As it is mentioned, Miller tapped into a sense of dissatisfaction and unrest within the greater American psyche Miller worked as a freelance writer in the New York, there his first play “The Man Who Had All the Luck” appeared in 1944 and got awful and terrible reviews. The success Miller hoped on came with a tragedy “All My Sons”, which was appealed to the whole nation, which have almost yesterday gone through two disasters: a world war and a great depression. After the success, Miller spent two years to surprise society with his new masterpiece, which was even better then previous one. It called “Death of Salesman”.

Miller’s most prominent, respectable and well-known work called “Death of Salesman” appeared in 1949. It was an immediate, absolute, and infallible success among the whole world. American theatre was influenced great by Miller’s works. This work is dedicated to the destiny of Willy Logan, who is a failed and unlucky businessman trying to improve and make better his life or even to reconstruct it. His wife Linda is seemed to be as many of Americans the follower of an American Dream, but she does not rely too much on it. Finally, a salesman kills himself in the car, trying to give a chance to his son to start a new beautiful life. He is seemed to be a kind of a tragic hero as Shakespeare or Dostoevsky have. This film made Miller a rich person.

The McCarthy era

According to Craig, the McCarthy era was a period of suspicion in the US during 1950 to 1954 because the American government was actively trying to counter the alleged American Communist Group (2001, pg 12). Arthur Miller was definitely influenced by the McCarthy era. Such affects were caused by Miller’s being denying employment in the private area in the America and condemned the security checks in the government of USA. Well-known fact of marriage between Miller and Marilyn Monroe was definitely happened because Miller wanted to hide up his communist activities and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which was followed by Miller from 1940 to 1965.

In 2005 on the 10 of February Arthur Miller died, left people and American theatre his heart and soul in his works.
