BACKGROUND
The results of using animal experimentation for research have provided us with insulin, pacemakers, organ transplants, nutritional supplements, and many other benefits. Animal experimentation is also used in cosmetics and other consumer industries. The debate among scientists, animal rights activists, and consumers over whether or not to experiment on animals has become heated and sometimes violent.
