BSCM Capability Analysis
a. Capability dimensions
The major supplier of the Chinese restaurant has customer focus capability because the supplier cooperates with the Chinese restaurant specifically, even though, it does not have an extended network and the volume of sales is relatively low. Nevertheless, the supplier is interested in the cooperation with the restaurant. As for the supply-management capability, the supplier is likely to be a local supplier because, in such a way, it is possible to minimize costs and maximize the effectiveness of the supply management. In addition, the local supplier can adapt to specific needs of the Chinese restaurant because it interacts closely with the restaurant and responds to any changes that occur to the restaurant. The integration capability of the supply is very high because it depends on the steady supply of goods and services delivered to the restaurant. The information exchange is also well-developed as the restaurant and its supplier has to exchange information on the regular basis to meet customers’ needs and expectations.
The coffee shop’s supplier is also inclined to customer focus capability because the supplier needs to provide the coffee shop with products of the high quality, especially coffee to maintain customers of the shop satisfied. The supply-management capability is also very important but the coffee shop is likely to work with a multinational corporation that operates worldwide that decreases costs of supply of products from different parts of the world and increases the diversity of products being supplied to the ship. The integration capability is likely to be lower than in case of the Chinese restaurant because the coffee shop has an extended network and cooperates with multination supplier, which has many customers worldwide. Nevertheless, the information exchange capability should be well-developed to maintain the cooperation between the coffee shop and the supplier effective.buy term paper
As for the bottles shop, it is just looking for a reliable supplier but it is likely to cooperate with the local supplier taking into consideration the fact that the shop is new and small. Nevertheless, the customer focus capability of the supplier is well-developed because the supplier should meet all demands of the shop, which are high enough because the shop needs products and services of the high quality. The supply-management capability is well-developed because the bottles shop and the local supplier cooperate closely, whereas the localization of the supplier decreases costs on transportation, allows the shop to order specific products and services it needs at the moment, whereas the supplier can respond fast and adequately to new demands of the bottles shop. Hence, the integration capability of the supplier is high to the extent that, in the future, it can become a part of the bottles shop. Finally, the information exchange is very high and it is updated on the daily basis.
b. Similarities and differences between capabilities
Obviously, the Chinese restaurant, the coffee shop and the bottles shop and their suppliers have significant similarities and differences. For instance, the Chinese restaurant and the bottles shop cooperate with local suppliers, which are closely integrated into the restaurant’s and shop’s business. Due to their localization they have decreased the costs of supply and are capable to respond to any changes in demands of the customers. In addition, the suppliers of the three companies are customer focused, although the coffee shop’s supplier is less focused and integrated into the coffee shop’s business than other suppliers. In addition, the coffee shop has an extended network that makes the supply chain of the coffee shop totally different from that of the Chinese restaurant and the bottles shop because the coffee shop‘s supplier has to deliver diverse products from different parts of the world, whereas the Chinese restaurant and the bottles shop can use local suppliers to meet their needs and demands.
