During my internship, I have witnessed two teenage boys consuming beer that was strictly banned and absolutely unacceptable. In fact, it was not only the violation of our internal norms and rules but also it was the violation of existing legal regulations. Obviously, the case of alcohol abuse from the part of the two teenage boys was a challenge to our organization and, what was more important, I saw the negative effects of alcohol abuse by teenagers. In this respect, I would lay emphasis on the fact that the alcohol consumption influenced consistently the behavior of the teenagers and we took a decision to undertake restrictive measure to prevent the risk of the further consumption of alcohol by children.
In actuality, the problem of the alcohol abuse among children is very serious and influences the life of children and their social environment. As the matter of fact, the alcohol abuse from the part of children and teenagers leads to negative effects. In this respect, it is worth mentioning the fact that Bradizza and others researched the problem of the misuse of alcohol by children and adolescents and revealed the fact that each year, almost 2000 people under the age of 21 years died in car crashes in which underage drinking is involved. Alcohol is involved in nearly half of all violent deaths involving teens (Blood, 2005). In fact, the incident, which I have observed during my internship proved that the consumption of alcohol is potentially dangerous for teens because the two teenage boys consuming beer proved to be quite aggressive after the consumption of alcohol and threatened to their peers being ready to abuse them if adults failed to interfere.
At the same time, Blood (2005) points out that the alcohol consumption by children and teens can lead to the development of addiction. In this regard, I have revealed the fact that the two teens consuming beer told that they used to drink beer practically on the regular basis. At any rate, they argued that they consumed beer as they had an opportunity and they were eager to drink it on the regular basis. On the other hand, I did not reveal a strong addiction of the teens to the alcohol consumption, although they had a limited access to alcohol and did not consume alcohol for a long time. Therefore, according to Blood, it was hardly possible to identify a strong and evident addiction of alcohol after a short period of consumption but the early consumption of alcohol increased the risk of the development of alcoholism, especially in adolescents because they were vulnerable to the negative impact of alcohol than adults (Blood, 2005).
Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is important to lay emphasis on the fact that the alcohol consumption by children is extremely dangerous. The alcohol abuse has a dubious effect on children. On the one hand, the consumption of alcohol changes the behavior of children, increases aggression and risk of violent behavior. On the other hand, the alcohol consumption may lead to the development of addiction and negative changes in health of children.
