In spite of a number of benefits globalization brings, it can also be considered one of the producers of violence models. The analyzed article explains the ways violence becomes a dominant method of conflict resolution in terms of globalization (Peterson, 2009, pp. 51-76).
The resistance to cultural globalization and participation in economic globalization is seen as a certain possibility to participate in the process and keep the idea of national states simultaneously. In many cases, violence as the method of resolving international conflicts becomes the resource of identity. Moreover, authors point out that today violence is the only way for many groups to emphasize their integration into the global community, opposing their identity to cultural globalization (Peterson, 2009, pp. 51-76).
At the same time, the right to maintain order and security nowadays passes to global actors; therefore, there appear such concepts as “globalization of violence” or “global violence” in international interactions. The problem of peacemaking now evolves as management of the entire international community. The main problem here is the modern legal dichotomy, simultaneously calling for the respect of human rights and for following the principle of state sovereignty and noninterference in the affairs of domestic jurisdiction (Bahaudin, 2007, pp. 95-111). The use of force in peacekeeping is closely linked to the issue of consent of conflicting parties. While earlier the consent was a mandatory element, today the emphasis is made on international security, rather than on such rules of international law as non-interference in internal affairs of states and sovereignty.
Recent studies of post-conflict negotiation in the global society tend to reduce violent elements in peace building. One of such paradigms is a paradigm of conflict transformation, implying search for resources for building a new state in the structures that emerged during the conflict, as well as in the contradictions, which formed the main motif of this confrontation.
