The letter of a Farmers’ insurance agent is a typical business communication letter, which have some promotional goals to attract the customer, Deogratius, to the services provided by the Farmer, the insurance company. The letter seems to have the objective to persuade the reader to start using services of the insurance company. In this regard, it is important to lay emphasis on the fact that the letter provides the reader with detailed information about the company and advantages of using its services. In such a way, the writer provides the reader with detailed information about the company to persuade the customer in the high reliability of the company. The reliability is extremely important for insurance companies.
At the same time, the letter aims at the persuasion of the reader to choose the services of the insurance company. In such a context, it is possible to speak about a two-fold goal of the letter. On the one hand, the insurance agent informs the reader about the company he represents. On the other hand, the insurance agents persuades the potential customer to start using services the company he represents. To meet these goals the writer uses diverse methods, which prove to be quite effective.
First of all, the writer refers to the reader directly by name. This is a very important fact because, in such a way, the insurance agent establishes closer relationships with the customer. In such a way, the insurance agent stresses the importance of the customer for his company and for him in person. As for the reader, he apparently feels confident in the insurance agent, who knows him by name and who attempts to persuade him to use the services of his company.
At the same time, the insurance agent appeals to the reason of the reader to persuade him to choose services of his company. The insurance agent lists a number of benefits of using services of his insurance company, including various discount offers, which make the services of the insurance company cheaper and, therefore, attractive to the customer from the financial point of view.
In addition, the insurance agent appeals to the experience of other people, who have used the services of his insurance company and he even cites some of the letters written by a satisfied customer. In such a way, the writer persuades the reader referring to the experience of other people and appealing to the authority of other people.
Furthermore, the insurance agent offers services of his company to the reader and provides him with detailed information on what he has to do to order the services of the insurance company. The writer uses simple but persuading language, which is quite formal but tends to personalization of the entire letter to make it closer to the reader. The insurance agent uses visualization to attract the attention of the reader to key points. To put it more precisely, he uses visualization to attract the attention of the reader to the points he wants him to notice. In such a way, the insurance agent reaches his objectives for he attracts the attention of the reader to his company and persuades him to buy its services.
Therefore, stakeholders benefit from the letter because the company and insurance agent get a client, whereas the reader gets the insurance company he can rely on.
