I would like to tell you about Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The main goals of my work are to discuss the article about Wal-Mart and to express my own opinion about human resource.
I opened the web site http://www.wakeupwalmart.com/facts/ and got to know more about Wal-Mart. The article about “Wal-Mart and Health Care” really caught my attention and I would like to tell you real facts about it.
Some information about Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is famous American company and the world’s largest retail network. This company was founded by Sam Walton in Rogers, the state of Arkansas in 1962. Its headquarters is located in Bentonville, the state of Arkansas. Wal-Mart occupies the first place in Fortune Global 500 in 2010.
The strategy of Wal-Mart includes the maximum assortment and the minimum prices which aspire to wholesaling. Wal-Mart is the leader on adoption of the technologies connected with the usage of RFID-labels in a trade.
The article about “Wal-Mart and Health Care”
According to the article “Wal-Mart and Health Care” Wal-Mart’s health care plan has not such a great opportunity to cover nearly 700,000 employees. As I know, Wal-Mart has nearly 1.4 million employees in the USA. But its health insurance covers only 50.2% of their employees. Moreover, this health care plan is too expensive for employees. For example, if an average full-time employee wants to choose the cheapest family insurance, he would have to pay for it more than 20 % of his total earnings before the health insurance. A full time Wal-Mart partner collides with a serious family health problem. He should pay for the least expensive health plan more than 53 % of his income. These problems appeared because Wal-Mart’s health insurance fell far short of the industry average. That’s why, employees need to rely on public help in order to cover the public health service.
According to up-to-date information Wal-Mart is one of well-known employers which compels its employees to rely on taxpayer-funded health care.
According to transcript Lee Scott speech dated on 4 May 2005, he says “In some of our states, the public program may actually be a better value – with relatively high income limits to qualify, and low premiums”.
Human resources
According to Dave Ulrich human resources are specific and major economic resources. As a factor of economic development, human resources are workers who have certain professional habits and knowledge and can use them in labour process. Studying of human resources has a great importance for job rating and for development of a proper demographic policy. The main goal of this development is to have an influence on processes of populations’ reproduction and its employment.
Specificity of human resources compared with other economic factors is that people not only create, but also use material and cultural values. Besides, versatility of a human life is not settled by only labour activity. That’s why, it is necessary to take into consideration peoples’ needs in order to use human work effectively. The scientific and technical progress and humanisation of a public life increase an economic role of knowledge, morals, a mental potential and other workers’ personal qualities which are formed by years and generations.
Persons’ interests in any actions directed on an increase of economic mechanism’s functioning are one of prerequisites for successful economic development. It is impossible to get increases in social and economic understanding without persons’ interests. Co-ordination of social and economic transformations with peoples’ needs and destinies gets a special value in connection with a radical reorganisation of public relation’s system nowadays.
The major transformations occur in the social and labour sphere, touching interests of millions people and being reflected on results of economic development. Flexibility, mobility, people’s adaptation to new conditions of economic development is very important things during changes.
According to Bryan Baker human resources are a number of people and a human potential. The last one is a competence, experience, intellect, ability to improve and to develop themselves in all spheres of our life.
The usage of human resources can occur under various conditions:
The first one is the creation of network communities (design groups);
The second is the support of procedures (functions) in the organization.
Using human resources the company management or project job includes the following things:
Revealing the latent human resources in the organization;
According to problems it is necessary to make a correct arrangement of staff. These facts are used for distribution and optimization of a human resource’s usage in projects.
Conclusion
In conclusion I want to say that I wrote a summary and analyzed the article about Wal-Mart and Health Care. Discussing this article I expressed my own opinion about human resources. I strongly agree with an opinion that the usage of human resources is a main part of practice in a personal’s management. Human resources are the major kind of resources in the world economy. Such science as demography is engaged in studying of manpower resources and population movement. That’s why, it is really important for employers to cover the health insurance of their workers.
