At the beginning of the 21st century it becomes clear that humanity is evolving toward an expansion of the linkages and interdependence among nations, peoples and their cultures. This process involve various spheres of public life all over the world. Today it is impossible to find the ethnic communities that have not experienced the effects of both on the part of other cultures, and the broader social environment prevailing in the various regions and the world. This is reflected in the rapid growth of cultural exchanges and direct contacts between public institutions, social groups, social movements and individual choices of different countries and cultures.
An increased interaction of cultures and people makes it particularly urgent question of cultural identity and cultural differences. The cultural diversity of contemporary humanity is increasing, and its constituent nations are finding more money to maintain and develop their integrity and cultural character. This tendency to preserve the cultural identity confirms a common pattern, consisting in the fact that humanity is becoming increasingly interconnected and unified, does not lose its cultural diversity.
Today in the management the processes of intersection, interaction and collision of different cultures are more common than many managers realize this. Cross-cultural approach is applied to many spheres of human activity, especially to business.
Regional, socio-cultural and national dimension in business management and territorial features gradually assume significance in the business community. The reason for this – is cross-cultural modalities of business: in the domestic and global economies are new blended partnership arrangements based on the interpenetration and unification of values, attitudes and behaviors of different civilizations, cultures and subcultures, counterculture. In the U.S. every year appear various offices of international companies, and American business companies increase their activity throughout the world.
Improving competence in the field of cross-cultural management of modern leaders need because doing business in the U.S. has many regional, local and territorial characteristics. American manager operates in a variety of domestic and foreign cultures. Knowing your cultural sensitivity and the specificity of the business culture of other ethnic groups, nationalities, peoples, civilizations become enormously important.
The process of globalization in management
Real globalization is characterized by the fact that international economic relations have covered almost all the countries of the planet and each of them to some extent dependent on international business. The implications of this: on the one hand, the country may enjoy its benefits without suffering the negative effects of the absence in it of certain resources, opportunities, etc. But, on the other hand, the natural reward for it and becomes a significant dependence on the state of the world markets as a whole: not only enjoy the benefits of integration into the global economy, have borne the same time and risks of this process.
The global nature of international business is it’s most important defining feature of today: it essentially covers the global system of business information exchange, the world’s financial markets, the global structure of technological innovations, etc. But globalization is combined within a five characteristic features:
– accessibility and universality;
– gradation of development;
– technological globalization;
– financial interaction;
interaction of national and international. (Thomas, 2002, p. 134).
International business varies depending on the two main parameters of its development, primarily on the depth of involvement (level of internationalization). The more integrated into international relations business, the more it is available a global business service that is totally independent of national origin and based solely on cost-effective package of various services: scientific, financial, transportation, selection of an international team, which allows today make the most of opportunities for international business.
