Buy essay on Daoism

Daoism/ Taoism is a philosophy which developed over a time period of 200-300 years. This way of thought is about finding a proper life path – Dao/Tao. On the whole Daoism supported positive view of the world and truthful hypothesis of its creation. Nevertheless Daoists were against any social order which was not given to people naturally. Also Daoists didn’t believe in human wisdom. They were sure that all the humans were limited in their actions anyhow, so it was not necessary for them to do anything at all. Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi were the prominent leaders of the school of Daoism which have both common and different philosophical views which are interesting to trace.
Lao Zi is known for his sophisticated theory of “doing nothing”. He worked out the concepts of namable and unnamable. Lao Zi tried to distinct the things and their names. The specific things in the world were called namable and the things which were eternal and limitless before they materialized into specific shape were called unnamable. Lao Zi believed that ‘namable is the mother of things’. According to this theory Dao or the way was eternal, thus, – unnamable. Following the concepts of namable and unnamable Lao Zi put forward such definitions as “being” and “non-being”. These concepts referred to specific or finite phenomena. Another theory he proposed as the theory of “Golden Mean”. He believed that everything in the world would change to the extreme, therefore to reach the goal a person should begin with quite the opposite as all the things become their opposites when they reach their extremes.
Zhuang Zi agreed with the concept of Lao Zi of namable and unnamable and strived for dialectical development of the universe through transforming of “non-being” into “being”. Zhuang Zi realized the difference between natural and human subjective worlds. He realized the sphere of human objectivity and subjectivity deeper. Zhuang Zi considered the sage as one who managed to achieve the level of forgetting of all the distinctions between things. Although it was an enlighten decision and not simply ignorance. He supported Lao Zi in trusting Dao rather than inventing own ways of doing things. It is the main similarity between the philosophies of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi to my mind. Nevertheless Zhuang Zi tried to understand how to link individual human points with the rules of the universe according to Dao /Tao while Lao Zi would save everything as it goes without changing it at all.
