Every year the Academy of Art University 2010 Graduation Fashion Show presents the collections of the graduating students. This year the impressive show didn’t disappoint its audience. It is worth mentioning that high heels weren’t popular this year: all the models were wearing flats except some wooden platforms. A few words about the color story, trend, inspiration, and silhouette of each designer’s collection:
Yuzuan Cheng presented the line of men-looking clothes inspired by androgynous image of David Byrnes, which was created by David Bowie. The light colors and asymmetric silhouette are the special appeals of this collection.
Rinat Brodach’s collection used the latex, dark colors and the triangle silhouette with the wide shoulders and narrow down part.
Andrew Wedge told his collection was inspired with the white sharks attack, but the use of variegated fur trimmings bring up an association with savages and Bigfoot.
The only menswear collection was designed and presented by Ashon Sylvester. His all-leather collection was inspired by American Indians clothes transformed in futuristic style.
The A-shaped two-layered lace dress in color of ivory by Amelia Statler was inspired by the antique lace and the fashion of 1920s and 1930s.
The innovative idea of Young Ae Koo’s collection was the use of “magic eye” prints in black and white colors. The collection was inspired with the sub-culture of computer geeks, which was outlined with massive eyeglasses, rough boots and baggy silhouettes.
The idea of Ronnie Omar Nery collection was “Neon and structure”. Bright shimmering colors together with tight-sitting shapes looked rather eccentric but cozy.
The collection of Stephanie Hoffman presented glamour and sexy knitwear handknitted by herself and inspired with the sexy chick of the prewar fashion in 1930-1940th years.
