The research team faced with ethical dilemma studying the impact of innovative method of learning. The principal of the school decided to pay more attention to new technologies. The school was computerized and a lot of classes concentrated on the computer work. However, the knowledge and abilities of some teachers appeared to be insufficient for the work with new technologies. Many children weren’t satisfied with their work in the class, they thought that some of their classes is just a time-wasting, and many of them were concentrated on the activities unrelated to classes or learning. As the result, the children in the school showed rather low results in standard school tests, low then average in the state. The research team determined that the problem is negative picture of the individual teachers. The ethical dilemma was the following: it was obvious that the skills of teachers should be improved, or even new teachers have to be hired. However, the public announcement about the low teachers’ qualification or about their disability to work with new technologies could ruin their professional career.
2) The research team has to make the ethical decision based on its ethical position. From the point of view of utilitarian ethics the ethical perspective should be the following: the low-qualified staff prevent the students’ good education and has the negative impact on the image of the school. However, the data sharing can have negative impact on the career of the teachers. Choosing the way of the “the greatest good for the greatest number or whether more good than harm” the principal of the school should take some measures and to improve the skills of the teachers. Probably the additional courses or trainings, group or individual, can become the solution on this case. The information about this training should be public because there is no place for deception. However, every teacher should be recommended to visit this training individually to keep anonymity.
