There are different factors that significantly impact performance evaluation. It goes without saying that the most clear understanding what could influence the performance evaluation is the direct example: if we take as an example the racial, religious or gender stereotypes are generally considered discriminatory impacting factors due the Civil rights Act of 1964.
It is a well known fact that one of the core factors that influence the performance evaluation is current legislation. The United States is the country that struggles against any kind of discrimination that is why the company’s policy got to be nondiscriminatory. The JetBlue Airways have never been noticed in providing any kind of discriminatory policy according to their staff.
Another very important factor is connected with the impact provided by the labor unions. As it was mentioned earlier JetBlue uses so called employment compensation packages and this policy of the company reject the union availability to take roots within the company.
And the last important factor impacting the performance evaluation is corporate culture promoted By JetBlue. As it was mentioned earlier the company expects from employers corresponding to the corporate culture share the values and philosophical issues of organization. It goes without saying that it is one of the most important criteria as it deals with the core aspect which is decisive in the company hiring.
360-degree Feedback Evaluation in JetBlue Airways
“The 360-degree feedback evaluation is a type of employee performance evaluation that adheres to a multi-unit approach to feedback that includes not only employees and their supervisors, but also external and internal customers, peers, and sub-ordinates” (United States Office of Personnel 1997).
The researchers consider that such type of feedback system has a number of advantages. At first it increases tendencies for being more objective taking into account that different informational sources are used for evaluation the worker. Generally the task performer was evaluated by the supervisor, who assessed him or her. It does not correspond to contemporary realities as one personal opinion is taken into account.
The second advantage provided by 360 – degree system is the high informational quality. The opinion and observation of the different people represent diversity of informational data. It goes without saying that the data received due such a system is more relevant and balanced evaluation. It goes without saying that such a system is fairer than taking into account one personal opinion of a traditional approach.
And the third is all group involvement. It would help to get fair information. It benefits to the managerial group, working with this information, which would be able to draw complete picture dealing with the task performance and operation of the whole company. It goes without saying that JetBlue Airways is using all the advantages as the core idea of the corporate strategy is high qualified performance of constant improvement of the service provided to the customers. That is why relevant and critical evaluation provided by 360 degree system perfectly suits to this company. It goes without saying that this significantly contributes to the development of the HR practice and motivates the employees for better task performance
Benefits the Company Provides for Their Staff
Nowadays JetBlue has already developed a system of loyalty to the workers and their families. The following paragraph illustrates some extracts from the benefits and rewards programs that already exist in JetBlue. The same time it should be noted that the company undergoes significant changes all the time and the benefit system adds something new for the employees:
Complete information on benefits and pricing will be provided upon hire. Here are highlights of the program:

It goes without saying that such a well planned system of benefits and reward, which is constantly upgrading, provides really good advantage for the company and the members of the team. If we speak about the discretionary benefits (among them we could mention company car, leisure activities food transportation, the retirement programs etc.) we should also mentioned that JetBue includes discretionary benefits into their benefit programs: leisure activities and retirement programs are probably the most noticeable among them: “JetBlue Airways Retirement Plan is a defined contribution plan with a profit-sharing component and 401k feature. This plan has a BrightScope Rating of 69, placing it in the top 15% of all plans in its peer group. This plan is also in the top 15% of plans for Company Generosity. JetBlue Airways Retirement Plan currently has over 11,700 active participants and over $240.7M in plan assets” (BrightScope Inc, 2010)
In the end I would like to make a stress on the fact that developmental HR practice provided by JetBlue Corporation significantly changed the perception and evaluation of the airway companies. The company provides employee friendly policy, contributes the employees with different bonuses and uses the most recent systems of effective control the task performance. The company seeks for the workers that would share corporate logic and strategy the company provides and would help to provide high quality service for the customers. The developed systems of bonuses and benefits to the employees and their families make the company very attractive for the recruitments. Personally I consider that JetBlue airways HR systems provided a new word not only in the airways HR policies but demonstrated effective cooperation of different HR policies in one strategy.
