Organizational diagnosis is the best way to find the major problems of organization which prevent its successful development. Moreover, organizational diagnosis helps to identify those changes that need to be made and major reasons for the change. My goal in this paper is to diagnose the organization and to identify human implications, potential resistance factors, and the drivers of the change. It is also necessary to incorporate some useful recommendations which will demonstrate strategic alignment with the chosen organization. (Weisbord, 1989, p.29)
ORGANIZATIONAL DIAGNOSIS
The organization, I’d like to diagnose in this paper, is Industrial Solutions, a manufacture and exporter of a wide range of different industrial and engineering safety goods and accessories including safety gloves, ear plugs, cotton and leather aprons, leather sleeves and so on. The organization was established in 2000. Today, it is one of the leading manufacturing organizations which produce safety goods for the customers from all over the world. The organization includes about 250 employees. There are several functioning departments in this company: manufacturing, marketing, sales, transportation, human resources, finance, and administration departments.
Identification of the changes that need to be made and a reason for the change
It is known that each of the organization’s departments can influence the organization’s productivity and performance to a great extent. I’d like to use the six approach model to organizational diagnosis which includes the examination of the company’s archival reports, some useful information gathered through interviews, observations. Organization analysis will help to develop a strategy plan. The following changes should be made:
• It is found that the products are distributed through distributers. It is necessary to organize direct sales.
• The products are sold only to manufacturing industry which includes plants and factories. It is necessary to organize sales to different industries, such as mining, defense industry, fire services, plants and factories.
• There is no customer service department in this organization. The customers have no opportunity to express their opinion concerning the quality of goods and services. That is why it is necessary to create and organize the work of customer service department in a proper way. This department will respond to different inquiries and complaints of the customers. It is very important to known about the customers’ needs.
• Human resource department does not implement any training programs in order to increase the employees’ motivation and productivity. That is why many employees are not satisfied with their job. It is necessary to improve the work of this department.
• It is also necessary to make some changes in the marketing department. According to the company’s archival reports, and observations, the managers of the marketing department do not gather the information about the market. This fact influences the productivity and performance of the company. It is important to know the market share, as well as the sub market share. (Weisbord, 1989, p.29)
