He is marshaling his troops and enforcing strict discipline to insure their adherence to the official doctrine. And now he has even insinuated that his competition are aligned with the principles of Hitler and Stalin” (The News Corpse, 2010). The majority does not find his methods corresponding to contemporary socio-economical realities and present day situation within the managerial developmental practice. The opinions have divided as it usually happens and a significant role played the fact that a number of huge corporations refused from authoritarian leadership and provide individually oriented managerial strategies and shifted their vision on leadership from male and authoritarian to female and collaborative. This fact also has a great impact on the attitude towards the strategic vision of Rupert Murdoch. Still the opponents of his strategic view could mark it as rough and cruel, but none of them could say that it is inefficient. Rupert Murdoch is that sort of leader, who always achieves what he plans. This strategic vision helped him to reach the target group in the particular country. Such respectable publishing houses as the Times Newspapers Limited perfectly suit tom his strategic vision as they win the target group he seeks for. It is a well known fact that Rupert Murdoch infringes into the editorial vision and makes personal corrections. His vision on the media sources is perfectly showed within his speech: “According to a recent study, the percentage of national journalists who have a great deal of confidence in the ability of the American public to make good decisions has declined by more than 20 points since 1999. Perhaps this reflects personal politics and prejudices more than anything else, but it is disturbing. This is a polite way of saying that reporters and editors think their readers are stupid. In any business, such an attitude towards one’s customers would not be healthy. But in the newspaper business, where we rely on people to come back to us each day, it will be disastrous if not addressed” (Murdoch, 2005)
Speaking about Rupert Murdoch strategic vision it should be essential to note that he is one of the most criticized CEO in the whole world. This does not lessen his success and efficiency of his company, the News Corporation, but his strategic vision does not correspond to contemporary management strategies and ideas like emotional intelligence, empowerment and many others. The methods the leader of the News Corporation uses to make his ideas come true could be hardly called modern, innovative and individual oriented. But if we speak about result orientation, strict discipline and rough tactics, demanding we directly address to ideas suggested by the News Corporation CEO: I dig in – I like to know what’s going on. I probably don’t do it enough here (at the studio), but once or twice a year – I should probably do it four times a year – I sit with (20th Century Fox president) Hutch Parker and the creative people to hear about the planning of their movies and what’s coming” (Murdoch, by Dowling and Parisi, 2005). Still the efficiency of his tactics is evident and the question is very contradictory. Rupert Murdoch does not leave people indifferent and his strategic vision too. But the majority have rather negative attitude providing reasonable data that people and human factor mean nothing for Murdoch, his extremely profit oriented strategy causes negative critics from the side of labour unions and the fact that he spoiled journalism by monopolies does not make Rupert Murdoch popular. His strategies created a huge negative social resonance. But the core idea was to show the personal attitude to such type of vision: criticizing his tactics and strategies and saying that he is out of date.

The same time strategic vision of Rupert Murdoch is constantly changing. He understands that attraction of new people is very important that is why the new updates and newer, user friendly. Providing strict discipline he achieves magnificent results. He understands the tendencies and now business people could read their favorite product of the Times Newspaper Ltd on their mobile phone. He understands that people need to express their opinion that is why new vision welcomes feedback from the readers. It goes without saying that the old vision is still in power but the changes are already made.
In the end I would like to make a stress on the fact the News Corp and its departments do not seek for sharing a lot their recent mission and vision. The strong corporate logic and corporate strategies as well as their activity are the best illustration for the current state of things. They become friendlier to the reader, providing strong ethics and appreciate the views of the customers. I think that the changes characterize the corporation, its British department the Times Newspapers Ltd more customers oriented than they were earlier: “We’ve taken everything you know and love about Times Online and made it bigger, bolder and better. Our two new sites will be revealed soon” (The times Official web site, 2010)
