Thirdly, the strength of the product is its variety of application: iBaby can be used for educational, preventive and entertaining purposes.
Weaknesses: the main weaknesses of Apple devices are its value (it is likely that cheaper analogues might soon appear) and uniqueness. In case of iBaby, which opens a totally new niche for Apple, usually positioning of devices as stylish and unique should be replaced by better promotion, customer service and greater availability of the product.
The opportunities for iBaby are great since Apple is the first who proposed such idea. This issue gives room for extensive marketing, advertising and promoting the new device both locally and internationally. Additional revenue might be gained by providing customer support for iBaby, servicing and repairing the devices, and implementing additional functions such as control of location of the infant, temperature control etc.
Main threats for iBaby are the competitive companies manufacturing electronic components: they might copy the technology/idea or create a similar device at much cheaper price. There is also a threat that existing range of substitute goods can satisfy the customers’ needs. Also, the new market niche is still unexplored, and it might appear that mothers will be suspicious to buy electronics to their infants due to safety issues.
Finally, trends for development of the product are also impressive: as it was mentioned before, it is possible to provide the devices itself, service, additional functions, repairing etc. Also, there might be special series of correctional iBaby devices aimed at helping infants to overcome physical and nervous problems. In fact, the main trend is to advertise the product as broadly as possible, and deliver it to the customers while effectively creating a series of interlinked products (for children of different age) and attracting patrons to this line of products.
