For example On September 2006 a “News Feed” – it highlights information about profile changes, new events, birthdays of friends and so on, that is very convenient. Also, the site often expand the information available, for example during the first years users could have only 60 photos in album, but from May 2009, this limit was increased to 200 photos.
Another tool “Facebook Notes” appeared on August 2006, and from February 2007 users can launch “Gifts”, that allows to send virtual gifts to friends.
On July 2008 Facebook introduced “Facebook Beta” – a large redesign of user interface, so new version was put into use in September 2008. And from June 2009 Facebook site introduced a “Usernames” feature, that makes it more convenient to use, because pages can be linked with simpler URLs.
So a “way-back machine” helps to analyze milestones and changes in the site’s history, compare it’s content, style, and characteristics over time.
