It goes without saying that the question of fathers involvement increase within the children upbringing has already become one of the most discussed questions in the contemporary scientific world: “Interest in the roles fathers play in raising their young children has gained increasing attention from researchers, practitioners, and families alike. This interest is due, in part, to the re-entry of women into the work force, which prompted some social theorists to assume that fathers would increase their involvement in caregiving tasks and, therefore, fathers should now be a more important component in children’s development” (Kerry, 2000). This research would critically examine the question of the fathers involvement, provided within the article Fathers’ qualitative and quantitative involvement: an investigation of attachment, play, and social interactions by Kazura Kerry released in 2000 in the Journal of Men’s Studies. The question is very acute and this research is based upon the two hypotheses, revealing whether they are true or not.
The question of father’s qualitative and quantitative involvement is one of the most significant in the contemporary world. It goes without saying that this question is among the contradictory ones and the researchers could hardly come to the agreement: “It is assumed that if the obstacles facing fathers were removed, the impact of their increased involvement would be positive for fathers, mothers, and their children. Some possible obstacles for fathers’ level of involvement that have been identified are fathers’ socialization, mothers acting as gatekeepers to fathers’ involvement, and the lack of role models for fathers” (Kerry, 2000). Methodology
This chapter adds to the report fulfillment as it reveals the research process. Introductory part provides brief observation of the theme and explains the purpose and contents of every chapter. The second part Research Design and Rationale is devoted to the methods of data collection and providing reasons for that choice. The third chapter participant would inform about proposed participants and show demographics. And the last one, Development of the Research Tool, is devoted to the specific tool, which is the core in reaching the aims set and explaining what data this item would collect.
Research Design and Rationale
It goes without saying that data collection is one of the most significant processes in writing the report. That is why before the data collection there was decided to write out an outline with deadline section which would help to perform effectively and do not waste time on useless processes. It is essential that such a theme as fathers’ involvement critical examination needs various issues of data collection that would help to illustrate the statistical data from different point of view. Among the suggested ones there are could be observed:
Using available information. Academic literature peer review would help to make a historical observation of the set problem. How it was related to by the governmental forces and what were the results.
Observing. Observation of statistical data provided by the governmental and academic sources. It would provide evident statistics which either prove or confute the locals data and would help to provide comparative analysis in different areas
It goes without saying that after data collection it would take some time to organize it. It is essential that qualitative and quantitative methods would be the main in the evaluation process and observation the critical evaluation of fathers’ involvement in the contemporary realities dealing with the female equal participation on the labor market. Every of this methods used for the data collection are very important for this research, as it would make certain contribution in the whole research process, characterizing local achievements and drawbacks on the background of the global ones and providing comparison all over the country. It would be essential to take into account the fact that there would be one single source, which requires critical examination
