In contemporary world the abortions possibility and its limits are among the most controversial and discussed problems, which involve, religious, ethical, medical, social and legal issues. In some cou8ntries (a good example would the United States and Poland) this issue has sharpened a lot and caused severe confrontation in the society of these countries. The arguments for and against are really strong and the core problem of the abortion question is termination of the human’s live during the abortion process. It won’t be a secret that so called “pro-life” side is considering that the unborn child should be related as a human being who already has a right for life. It won’t be surprising that the opposite side does not share their vision on this question. They even prefer the use of different terminology. Pro-life activists are speaking about the living being and their opponents are eliminating the human side from this question.
The statistical data in the United States provide the following statistics on abortions: “52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%. While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely. 64.4% of all abortions are performed on never-married women; Married women account for 18.4% of all abortions and divorced women obtain 9.4%”
(Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, 2010). The poor statistical data in the United States in not a single example. Abortion creates significant threat to woman’s health. Every year nearly 500 thousand women are dying due the after effects dealing with abortion process. The after effects can be different and despite killing a child women could not survive because of the existing problems. The 15% of these cases occur as the result of the difficulties during the unsafe abortion process. 98% of abortion deaths occur in the developing countries and it is not surprising as the health care industry there is really in poor state. If women do not care about the child they carry inside it would better for them to take care about personal health. Hence I do not consider that legal prohibition would act positively on this question. The numerous cases of illegal abortions would take more lives of women and their children. Criminal and illegal abortions became the real danger to the humanity as they often cause irreversible after affects and about amount of lethal cases was described earlier. The number of deaths and infertility cases are caused by such types of abortions. That is why it seems to me that legal prohibition would provide a significant damage to the humanity
Religious aspect of this problem is that the majority of religious confessions do not support abortions. They treat it like the murder of the human, even on the early stage of its development. The religious leaders consider abortions to be the severe sin and that is why in many countries, where the church is strong abortions are prohibited legally.
In the end I would like to make a stress on the fact that abortion is a real threat to the reproductive function of any woman and in some cases even lethal threat. That is why personally I support pro-life organizations, but I do not support extreme methods of impact.
