In the current essay we will review the three main decisions that Harry Potter makes in the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. Harry Potter in the movie has made three major decisions, which included chasing Malfey on his broomstick, helping Hermione with the troll and finding the philosopher’s stone.
The first major decision harry makes is to chase Malfoy on his broomstick. In that case the decision was not so good, as Harry has shown to Malfoy that he has to respect him. On the other hand, there were another ways to prove that, but Harry decided to act this way. The situation was: Malfoy hovered across the pitch, glaring through the pouring rain at Harry. Then suddenly he sped across the field. However, Harry at that moment thought that Malfoy had seen the snitch that is why he urged his broom forward as fast as he could. Yet, he plowed into a lavender-spotted kitten but ignored it, looking at Malfoy. With horror, he saw Malfoy reach out and pluck… a lavender-spotted kitten from the air. As a result, Harry almost fell off his broom laughing at the surprised look on Malfoy’s face.
The second important decision that Harry makes is to help Hermione with the troll.
At one of the lessons Ron said something insulting about Hermione and because of this she did not appear on the next lesson until the evening and nobody did not know where she was. Just walking down the Great Hall for a banquet dedicated to Halloween, Harry and Ron overheard that Hermione was crying in the ladies’ room and did not calm down, asking to leave her alone. Reason was that a troll entered the school, and students were sent to their bedrooms. As a consequence, Harry and Ron ran to the ladies toilet and rescued Hermione. Even so all three together knocked a troll, when came McGonagall, angry that the students were not in the bedrooms, Hermione took the blame. Since then, Harry, Ron and Hermione are best friends. This decision was important and right, as it represents courage, friendship and humanity.
The third main decision that Harry makes is to find the philosopher’s stone. Comparing and contrasting all the decisions Harry has ever made, this one was the most important and dangerous. Despite this Harry felt that he had to do that and that he had powers to find the philosopher’s stone. Harry sees in the mirror as his reflection puts a stone in his pocket, and the stone is actually Harry’s pocket. While Harry was recovering after a meeting with Volan de Mort, Dumbledore told him that Harry’s mother defended her boy at the cost of their lives. Accordingly mother’s love gave Harry protection against Volan de Mort Kvirrell and therefore could not touch Harry. Another cause is that Snape hated his father and hates Harry, but he once saved his life, so Snape, in turn, has saved Harry’s life. Others could only see in the mirror the way they drink the elixir of life or turn metal into gold; Flamel, on the contrary, decided to destroy the Philosopher’s Stone, to deprive Volan de Mort of the opportunity to steal it in the future, he and his wife will die (when they will be more than 600 years old), but nevertheless, “for the highly organized mind death – is just another adventure; and the invisibility cloak Harry got from Dumbledore himself.”
All in all, the decisions made by Harry Potter in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” were necessary to be able to cope with the difficulties and to make new friends. As a result, there were a lot of challenges, unexpected situations and new things to understand that were essential for Harry Potter in the movie.
