At the beginning, it will be appropriately to mention that Peterson has found that because of the nature of the event – a plane crash, fire, and partial building collapse. The incident required a major rescue, fire, and medical response from Arlington County at the U.S. military’s headquarters – a facility under the control of the secretary of defense. Since it was a terrorist attack, the Department of Justice was the lead federal agency in charge (with authority delegated to the FBI for operational response) (2003, pg 12). The terrorist attack affected the daily operations and emergency management requirements of Arlington County and all bordering and surrounding jurisdictions. The disaster that happened in Pentagon will not leave people’s minds and hearts.
The nowadays system of economy and life as a whole caused such disasters. I believe in order to understand the whole topic we should overview the systems that took place in our society and their advantages and disadvantages. It will help to determine main points and make a decision (what place does Pentagon disaster occur in your life) and a conclusion in the end of the paper. The disaster in Pentagon harmed a majority of people. Someone lost there his father or mother, someone a wife or a child. To be honest someone could lost there a whole family. Talking about Capitalism, which is a social system that is seemed to be based on the individual rights principle, was mainly contributed by Marx, Lenin, Weber, Borodin and others. This part is dedicated to the contributors for capitalism and socialism, as well. Borodin inspired other followers of this theory, as well. Socialism is the theory that can be defined as one where the private property with income distribution is the subjects to social control. However, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels developed and transformed socialism into the political theory. The contributor also was Karl Kautsky. The disadvantages of capitalism are such: inequality, monopoly behavior, irrational one, next and last is immobility. Wealth leads to the small population; however, the luxury products demand is traditionally limited to the small workforce part. Irrational behavior is caused by people’s ignoring economic fundamentals. Wages of workers are low because of monopoly (that is gained by companies) that leads to charging higher prices. Free market is seemed to have an opportunity to move aspects and circumstances from an unprofitable sphere to a profitable area of industry easily. However, the advantages of capitalism are such aspects: efficient production and resources’ allocation, active efficiency, financial incentives and others.
The advantages of socialism theory are such. However, the economy is controlled by government, thus, there is no place for bust and boom. The level of employment is higher and health care is universal. This theory helps state or government to take under control the life of the country, especially its economics. Moreover, its benefits are seemed to be both multiple and relative. The disadvantages of this theory are that business scope becomes poorer (that however reduces people and country as whole working with international organizations in the worldwide market). It is diversity and competition lack and high taxes. There is no motivation to get rich when talking about domestic business. Managing becomes harder for the government.
County has found that while no emergency response is flawless, the response to the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon was mainly a success for three reasons: first, the strong professional relationships and trust established among emergency responders; second, the adoption of the Incident Command System; and third, the pursuit of a regional approach to response. Many fire and police agencies that responded had extensive prior experience working together on regional events and training exercises. Indeed, at the time preparations were under way at many of these agencies to ensure public safety at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank scheduled to be held later that month in Washington, D.C (2003, pg 11-12). However, it is not a surprise that Pentagon disaster took many lives and brought many injuries to people. Undeniably, several agencies responded to the attack that took place in Pentagon. For example, regional, local, state and even federal ones did it immediately. In addition, many departments responded to this disaster: police, fire, and sheriff’s ones. At 9:55, the evacuation of the impact area of Pentagon was ordered by the incident commander, the reason was the partial collapse that was imminent. Next even happened at 10:15, when the full command post evacuation was ordered by a commander. It happened because there was a warning: hijacked aircraft was approaching and passing near the FBI. This evacuation was well coordinated and with a good organization of it.
Flynn has stated that several factors facilitated the response to this incident, and distinguish it from the far more difficult task in New York. There was a single incident, and it was not 1,000 feet above ground. The incident site was relatively easy to secure and contain, and there were no other buildings in the immediate area. There was no collateral damage beyond the Pentagon (2003, pg 3). Talking about this disaster in full length, must be noticed that there appeared many problems with communications. For example, initial notification or even tactical operations are in the problematic area. It is obvious that cellular phones were not of a big value. Oversaturation of almost all radio channels took place. The discussion of this complicated question people should learn much information. However, those people who suffered from the event that took place on 11 September in Pentagon could not forget this even if they will want to. Such crimes are usual in our world. The question is why people let them to be committed. People are only reason of such disasters. Otherwise, how can one human kill another? The needed help was given, all the structures worked on this problem, shortly saying government did all possible.
In conclusion, the Pentagon disaster was the awful and scared event that took many lives of innocent people: from children to grow-ups, from sisters to parents. Why did it happen? These questions have only recently been raised by youth and modern society, and it is not possible, as yet, to answer all of them with any certainty. But people, who died there and who lost there their families and relatives, could not answer these question objectively and definitely could not forget this. Nobody could. However, what do people think? Did all of them recognize the harm, and grief and sorrow? Each of us should answer this question by own. It is obvious, that not only scientists and researches ask themselves such questions, but also each of us, I think. It is mentioned through the one source that it is a fair inference, given the differing situations in New York City and Northern Virginia that the problems in command, control, and communications that occurred at both sites will likely recur in any emergency of similar scale. The task looking forward is to enable first responders to respond in a coordinated manner with the greatest possible awareness of the situation (2010, pg 2: <http://pikibook.com/history/united-states/9-11-commission-report/emergency-response-at-the-pentagon>).
