BACKGROUND

Anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive eating are the major eating disorders with which many people, especially young women, are struggling. Although there is disagreement within the medical community over whether to treat the disorders as psychological or physiological conditions, most doctors and therapists recognize the severity of these life-threatening illnesses.
