BACKGROUND
Genetic engineering involves the practice of altering the genetic structure of living cells for the purpose of curing disease and improving the quality of life. Because both positive and potentially negative results could occur from genetic manipulation, it has become a controversial topic. Experts in the fields of medicine, religion, and philosophy as well as concerned people everywhere are struggling with this vital issue.
