BACKGROUND

Hunting has been a part of America’s history from its earliest beginnings and once provided a necessary source of food. Now, no longer needed for subsistence, hunting has evolved as a popular pastime. Opponents of sports hunting, who condemn the unnecessary killing of wildlife, have become increasingly outspoken, causing the hunters to organize powerful lobbying groups.
