Also, in my opinion, this comparison makes emphasis on the fact that the main aim of such a system is to prepare “optimal production”, i.e. in case of education – individuals whose development is optimal to them, while currently learners are shaped to match the system, not vise versa.
4) What is a student-centric model of learning and can it be effectively implemented in the current education model?
Under “student-centric model” of learning Christensen, Horn and Johnson (2008) mean individualized learning where each learner may be educated at own pace, with taking into account personal preferences, abilities, types of perception of information etc. Authors of the “Disrupting class” state that such customized environment may be created due to information technologies via introducing proper hardware and software, and that this revolution will disrupt the traditional classroom form of learning.
