Socrates wanted to change the habits and customs, he rebuked the evil, deceit, undeserved privilege thus it has caused hatred among his contemporaries and must pay for it. The Athenians considered fair laws and customs of the city, and foreign laws – false. The Sophists argued that there is generally no universal justice. Socrates also taught that the right to truth, justice – are the same for all – and go from the inner voice that sounds in the heart of every responsible in minutes.
The whole life of Socrates was the living embodiment of his theory of civic virtue. One manifestation of his citizenship was an open critic of democracy (or rather the Athenian democracy of his time), self-interest of its leaders, and other people in authority, which naturally gave rise to hatred on the part of those persons. After the restoration of democracy in Athens, Socrates opponents accused him of showing disrespect to the gods, which honors the city that is in violation of traditional law policy, the abuse and corruption of youth, which was considered a grave crime against the state. Socrates chose to die by drinking a cup of poison, thereby expressing his respect as a citizen to the laws in violation of that unjustly accused.
